The Tyler Cross Memorial Lacrosse Tournament was established by Chris Palmer and Neal Hicks to honor the life of their former teammate, classmate, and close friend Tyler Garrett Cross.
The tournament began with eight teams of college and post college varsity and club players competing in a round robin format at Georgia Tech rec fields with a championship game for the trophy. After three years of playing in that format, the tournament has evolved into an invitational game of alumni and friends of Tyler, which is held at The Lovett School. A middle school game will start off the event and then the alumni game will be played on the Denny Field. The proceeds from the game will now go towards a lacrosse scholarship fund established in Tyler's name to honor the player who most exemplifies his committment to teamwork both on and off the field. This tournament is held in memory of Tyler's fun loving and competitive spirit and to pay tribute to a good friend to so many people.
